Rob Jessop
Rob is the only DJ to have played at every CITF. Some might say that's because "There were so many times I returned to my table to sit out a tanda to rest my feet when the music pulled me back out of my chair to hit the floor again." (Ben Lovejoy)
Between festivals, Rob is the regular DJ in the nearby Tango Café milongas. He has been DJing since 2001 & playing tango at milongas since 2010.
Rob actually started tango on the same day and in the same beginners class as festival organizer Jolanta, over 20 years ago! You wouldn't recognise him - he had hair back then. He thought one weekly hobby would not take over his life but of course ended up in Buenos Aires learning Spanish by day and going to two milongas per night (three on Tuesdays).
He has only two fatal flaws: terrible puns, and not being 100% loyal to tango. Shamefully he is regularly seen wiggling his hips teaching Salsa and Bachata, and DJing at the local "Latin Inferno" night (do they call it Inferno because that is where reggaeton DJs will go?). Rob does seem to enjoy these other activities (the hips don't lie) but he says tango has something magical that no other dance has, and that nothing beats DJing in our beautiful Cheltenham Town Hall.
